In Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad enter the dream world of Subcon through a mysterious cave after Mario has a dream about it. They must stop the evil frog Wart and his minions by plucking and throwing vegetables and other objects at them to save the inhabitants of the land. The entire adventure is revealed to be a dream of Mario's at the end.
