Rumors swirling of a Darkman Reboot with teams behind 'Don't Move" and 'Werewolves Within'

I wanted to do a little research after reading a Bloody Disgusting article about the 'Don't Move' (Brian Netto and Adam Schindler) and 'Werewolves Within' filmmakers wanting to make a Darkman movie. What makes that a little more interesting I thought, was that Sam Raimi produced 'Don't Move', and happened to direct/write the original Darkman. Josh Ruben, the director of 'Werewolves Within' seconds that he not only wants to do a reboot, but has wanted to for a long time - somewhat of a dream gig type scenario.

With this announcement I immediately had to watch these movies, as I'm a huge fan of Darkman and Sam Raimi, and wanted to see what hands it may be in if this movie does indeed turn into something. I started with the new Netflix film 'Don't Move', because it seems to be the current talk of the horror community right now. We follow a main character named Iris, who finds herself in a really terrible situation with a serial killer, Richard, who drugs her with something that slowly begins to shut her body down. This was a pretty interesting idea for a movie, I thought, and a pretty terrifying situation. Unfortunately, I found most of the things that were supposed to be, or should have been, really intense and anxious... Just weren't? It's a little hard to describe, but I think it had something to do with the fact that Iris is really the only other character besides Robert. So, without Iris, there's really no movie? I never really felt that any of the "danger" she was in, was actually dangerous. and just knew she was going to win I suppose... However, it was shot well, acted well. It had some fun moments of gore, and I would say definitely check it out.

Werewolves Within was up next. I'm going to say right out of the gate - I loved this movie. I'm a huge fan of Sam Richardson and I Think You Should Leave, so I couldn't wait to finally watch this. It was honestly better than I thought it was going to be. It was FUNNY. Very funny. The cast was absolutely awesome. Every single one of them made me smile, chuckle, or bellow with laughter, more than once. This was a fun dynamic with a bunch of people snowed in, and figuring out that one of them is a Werewolf. A sort of who done it meets 'The Thing'. This one I actually immediately bought on blu ray, and will now be added to my October movie lineup every year.

After watching both of these movies, I am happy to say I'm looking forward to hearing more on this and seeing how much of this gets fleshed out. Liam Neeson has been on board for another movie for decades, and it seems like with all these people sort of in the same place at the same time now, it'll be a really exciting time to be a Darkman fan!
